Automatic Doors

County Security’s door automation solutions meet the highest standards of function and design
The wide ranging solutions can be used to automate nearly any door.

Applications for Door Automation

  • Young children or the elderly may not have the strength to open heavy fire doors. Door operators can alleviate this issue.
  • Door automation can improve movement through buildings and walkways with high volumes of traffic.
  • Automatic operators can improve efficiency in areas such as warehouses where manual handling hinders movement through doors.
  • Door operators are vital for providing ease of access to both elderly and disabled people and meeting the requirements of DDA.

Safety

  • Active Safety Beams - Detecting users in the opening and closing path of a door, the sensors self-check on each operation of the door to ensure they are working correctly. If a beam fails the door operator will go into a very slow check speed mode to maintain user security.
  • Safety Barriers and Screens - They are designed to protect passing traffic from the swing of the door and to guide users to the safe path of the door.
  • Fire Alarm Connection - Automatically close doors on fire alarm activation and inhibit motor activation whilst still being able to open the door manually. All models of door operator are fire rated and certified for use on fire doors.
  • Additional Safety Features:
    • Finger guards on hinges prevent finger entrapment.
    • Signage provides awareness for automated doors.
    • Low energy operators will stop if resistance is sensed.

Options

  • Electro-mechanical openers are ultra-quiet and are ideal for internal swing doors and can operate in either low power or fully automatic modes.
  • Electro-hydraulic models are more durable than mechanical operators and can provide more power for external doors and extreme conditions.
  • Under-floor operators provide automation for doors which need to maintain an aesthetic or where traditional operators cannot be fitted.
  • Revolving and sliding doors provide high levels of architectural beauty whilst maintaining high security levels.

Operation and Integration

  • Locking - All electric locking devices for doors with automatic operators are controlled by the operators. This ensures that door operation is never hindered by locking solutions and maintains the durability of the operator. Due to this, a door can be fitted with magnetic locks, lock releases, solenoid bolts, motorised locks, and shear magnets.
  • Presence Sensors - Doors in fully automatic mode will activate when presence is detected in front of the door. The sensors will detect solid objects to ground level and can detect movement from a minimum of 1400mm from the furthest edge of the door and self-check on activation of the door to ensure that they are functioning correctly. Should a sensor fail, the operator will go into a very slow check speed mode to ensure the safety of the users.
  • Manual Remote Activation - A power assisted door requires a physical action to activate the door, this can be triggered by a hardwired or wireless buttons or a remote radio transmitter.
  • Door Entry and Access Control - Both systems can be integrated with automatic door operators to verify a user’s identity prior to allowing access to an area.
  • Power assisted opening - A door operator takes the weight of the door, making a heavy door easier to open in the traditional method.
  • Power Failure - If power fails, the door will act as a standard door with automatic closing. Sliding doors are fitted with backup batteries and will move to a safe position. For revolving doors, breakout will be initiated and the sections will fold back allowing free exit.

Service and Maintenance

Maintenance is required on all powered doors. It is recommended that most typical installations are checked every 6 months. However the frequency is dependent on a number of factors including high door traffic levels, whether the users are vulnerable and in areas where the door is subject to vandalism or abuse. In these circumstances maintenance visits may be increased to every three months or as deemed necessary after risk assessment.

On the anniversary of the installation and commission of a powered door, an Authorised Door Technicians Check List must be completed by an accredited technician or company and on completion the client is required to sign to acknowledge the findings. These check lists are designed to ensure the safety of the users and are a requirement of BS 7036: Safety at powered doors for Pedestrian Use.

Comprehensive maintenance coverage options allow us to offer emergency response within 24 hours for urgent site security issues and also a 3-5 day response for standard repairs. Our operatives are qualified BS 7036 technicians and are fully trained in the installation and maintenance of each individual door operator model.
